A babywearing consultant can tell you everything about carrying your child in a wrap or babycarrier and teach you how to tie a babywrap. Carrying your child is a lot more popular than 9 years ago, when I started babywearinging myself. Fortunately, because that means that more and more parents experience how nice and practical it is to carry your child close by.
A babywearing consultant is trained by one of the training institutes in the Netherlands or abroad, for example the Instituut voor Hechting or the Trageschule. I followed my training at the Instituut voor Hechting.
A babywearing consultant can learn how to wrap your baby/toddler in a babywrap or help you choose the right carrier for you and your child.
A babywearing consultation is really an added value. You learn the intricacies of babywearing, make a babywrap fit nice and comfortable. You can also try out many different carriers.
You can plan a consultation during your pregnancy or after giving birth. You can also learn to carry your child on you back as soon as your child is a little older.
A complete consultation is always required to learn a full wrapping technique. You will first practice with special babywearing dolls and as soon as you have mastered the technique you will wrap your own child in the babywrap under supervision.
The most common technique is learning to carry a (newborn) child on your front with a woven wrap in the Front wrap cross carry. In addition, I also regularly learn to wrap with a stretchy wrap, ring sling or backcarry like the Rucksack or Double Hammock technique.
More and more often I also visit parents with a large collection of ergonomic baby carriers. By listening to their wishes and trying out the different carriers, parents can make a good choice and choose a baby carrier that really suits them.
As a babywearing consultant I mainly work in Schagen and in the Noord Holland Noord region; Den Helder to Alkmaar and Hoorn. You can find more information about a babywearing consultation on the consultation page.
