10 babywearing questions to: Inge

In ’10 carrying questions to ‘we ask 10 questions that have everything to do with carrying your child to different carrying fathers and mothers. This time we ask Inge the questions.

My name is Inge and I am 27 years young. Last year on December 5 in the early morning
our son Beer was born. According to the doctors I could not get pregnant naturally, I had
I never thought I was going to be a mother, until I found out in April 2018 that I was in

was also a bit of a shock. Everything was going to change for us and I had to

had a very difficult pregnancy with a lot of vomiting. This was a difficult period
because my husband works at sea so he is four weeks away and then four weeks at home. After the
During birth, a postnatal depression has unfortunately developed in me. The enormous changes
in my life from Groningen to a small village and becoming a mother my world really had
turned upside down. No matter how difficult it is for me to do something so intense after pregnancy
by having to make it, I can now also see the beauty of it. My postnatal depression
has made me look at life differently and set priorities for who and what really
is important to you. So at the moment I enjoy our family and I want to be in the future
please continue with my yoga classes and also women during and after pregnancy
guide through yoga and coaching. I see that there may be more and more room for it
the mother and that is a very nice move!

How did you come up with the idea or who made you excited to carry your baby in a sling or baby carrier?

I have always had my own opinion about many things and also about children and
educate. I always thought wearing was very important because it is so natural and before
ensures that your child makes a nice soft transition in the big wide world. I have my
sister who was pregnant before me, therefore given a sling as a baby shower gift. Now
I use the sling so it is passed on nicely!

Did you start wearing immediately after the birth of your child?

Immediately after the birth of Beer I started wearing it in a sling. I have this it
first half year and then moved on to a baby carrier because our boy too
is really a Beer. It became too heavy for me in the sling and I found the baby carrier just a bit nicer
for my back and shoulders. I think wearing is very important because your child is close to you and you still hear warmth, heartbeat and breath. In addition, our child suffered from
hidden reflux making upright wear better for him.

Carrying your child out of practical consideration or social emotional consideration?

I carried Beer in the beginning to ensure that the social emotional considerations make him one
nice soft landing made in this world. Nice and close mom and nice and warm. Now he
I still find it older that it is fun, but it is often practical because it is already home
the whole house crawls and starts walking, I no longer carry it in the house. I did this in it
start if I just had to do the washing or dishwasher. Now we carry him a lot outside. We
walk a lot and with a pram in the forest is not to do. In addition, wear is too
the only way to make Beer sleep. He thinks it is terrible in the pram. He can be there
just in but after fifteen minutes he puts it on a scream.

Want to carry your child with a sling or baby carrier?

We now carry Beer in a baby carrier because I find it more comfortable for my back and shoulders
plus it is faster to put him in the baby carrier than in the sling. In the beginning I found the
sling nicer and now we have completely switched to the baby carrier.

When do you experience the most ease of wearing?

I like to wear Beer the most when we go for a walk with the family or for a while
to the supermarket quickly. The stroller is soon a hassle I think. That’s why I
prefer the baby carrier and Beer likes it more. He is very focused on everything around him
wants to see and experience everything. I notice that he is calmer in the baby carrier.

Do you have a partner, grandfather, grandmother or babysitter that your child also carries?

My husband and I carry Beer.

What is your best, nicest or funniest wearing experience?

I like it the most when I’m walking with him and I sing for the trees and the
animals in the forest. Now that it is fall, this is beautiful. He often sings along in his own way and that
are the moments i love the most. Connected together as mother and son and with nature.

Have you ever had an embarrassing moment while wearing it?

In the beginning of the baby wearing period when he was still in the sling I had a very beautiful one
yellow ocher wrap. Beer leaked with pooping and i noticed the
large brown / green stain. Awkward especially when you are in a store.

Do you have nice carrying tips for other (future) parents?

I definitely recommend baby wearing. We still carry after 1 year and will continue to do. The wrap takes up little space and you grab the wrap or carrier faster than the big pram. In addition, it is super nice for your child because he or she is nice and close to Daddy and Mommy. In addition, it is a super nice way to be outside a lot when they are still unable to walk. The outside air is really good for babies too. If your child really is still small and cannot crawl, it is also ideal because if you just want to do the laundry or the
want to clear out the dishwasher then you can just do that with your baby on your front.
